Really looks sharp compared to the dull express wood finish. I'd say depends what you're main use for the gun is. If you're swamp stomping for ducks in sleet, ice, rain, etc If you're an upland bird hunter and want the nicer wood and plan on taking care of the gun, go with the wingmaster.

I had a wingmaster for a number of years and loved it. Comment Post Cancel. Jere Smith. I have a 16 ga Wingmaster that was made in , It have never failed yet! Great choice on either, but I would have to agree with SD. You would have to deside on what kind of hunting you will be doing with it.

You'll spend about for the Express, and about for the Wingmaster. Good Luck and Good Hunting. Either is a good choice. You can save a load of bucks with the Express. To add what D-wheel said. It was designed to meet a price point in the commercial market while still providing classic functionality. Without exception, every manufacturer who utilizes our platform serves to upgrade their system to a more efficient, street worthy platform.

While the Express is still an , the best pump shotgun on the market, there are some very important cosmetic and functional differences between it and the Police.

To our customers in Law Enforcement, Military, Corrections, and Security, whose lives depend upon the unfailing performance of Remington shotguns, the Police modifications are of paramount importance. Synopses of the variances are provided below. This section is secured and serves only to build LE and Military shotguns, with the same factory personnel working at that assignment each shift.

This ensures positive feeding when using heavier payload rounds. This type of locking mechanism can cause delay to an officer who needs the weapon but does not have the appropriate key. LE shotguns have the standard, proven, cross bolt safety. The old Wingmaster and the new Wingmaster are the same. Almost all parts on the series interchange.

Here the differences between the Wingmaster and the Express: The Express is Remington's "budget" gun, made to compete with the cheaper to make Winchester and Mossberg guns.

The Police is a Wingmaster with a dull finish and is a much more carefully inspected and built gun. The new "Tactical" and Marine Magnum guns are based on the Express. How Remington lowered the Express price was to reduce hand labor to a bare minimum, and to eliminate much of the polishing and de-burring the better quality Wingmaster and Police guns get. The Express is basically the same forged and milled steel receiver and heavy-duty internals gun the better 's are, just in a rougher, less well finished form with plastic and MIM parts.

The Express Model has: A plastic trigger group. A rougher finish inside and outside, with machine marks and some burrs left. A rougher, bead blasted blue job.

A less polished bore. A two piece sleeved barrel. The Defense version has 18", Cylinder bore barrel, with a bead sight. The Marine Magnum and Tactical models have plated or polymer finishes.

The Wingmaster has: An aluminum trigger group. The old style magazine retention system. A much smoother finish inside and out, no machine marks or burrs. The Wingmaster gun receives a higher level of inspection and finishing. Definate difference, though didn't see a used wingmaster either of the two places I stopped at today. Rye NES Member. My express tactical. Not like I'm any super shooter. It serves the purpose that I bought it for. I own several other Remingtons including an Older is better in my book. It and a mossberg a1 are the only shotguns I've ever shot.

I sold the because it wasn't a ton of fun at the range, but there were other issues. Developed surface rust on the barrel with no explanation, cleaned right up by scrubbing with a clp soaked rag but I wasn't enthused.

The action got hung up while cycling once, I put about 50 rounds through total. Probably not a big deal in the long run but again, just didn't jive with it. If I were to grab another shotgun and I probably will I think I would just get a maverick 88, which would work for anything I wanted it for. Of your options, I'd get a used wingmaster. Yeah that seems to be the general theme I have seen. I checked out Shooters Outpost and Riley's as I was up there getting Ammo but neither seemed to have any used wingmasters.

I have looked through a few places listings for used shotguns but I know that many places don't list and update their used stock. I know KTP has some but I figure I might see if there are any others before going there as I figure if I go all the way up there I won't likely come back empty-handed and there might be another option that I didn't even know about. You can try KTP if you want. If you still have problems, I'd check around in RI. RI has a few shops where the owners specialize in the shotgun sports and usually keep a decent stock of shotguns. Post reply. Insert quotes…. Share: Twitter Reddit Share Link. Similar threads H. Replies 11 Views 1K.
